Job Description: Based on site at AWE, the main duties of the roles include:

Whilst appointed in an advisory capacity to provide expert, impartial guidance to management and employees upon matters affecting environmental, health, safety and welfare and the safe operation of plant and equipment, the principle duty of the role is to support operational management in their responsibilities to manage environmental health safety and welfare. The Site Safety Advisor's other duties will include:
1.Assisting the Regional Safety EH&S Manager in the implementation, management and monitoring of the company's health, safety and welfare policies, procedures and systems

2.Conducting site inspections and auditing the Safety Management Systems and reporting back on their findings to the site Project Managers, Regional Safety Advisor, Business Unit Directors and the EH&S Director so that effective action can be taken on any instances of non-compliance

3.As necessary maintaining a reference library of documentation necessary to act as data trail when auditing safety management systems, codes of practice and other relevant statutory requirements

4.Assist in overseeing health, safety, welfare and fire prevention on site and workshops by reporting to the operational management findings on the workplace safety through regular inspection and audit reports s

5.Assist in setting, monitoring and managing, in conjunction with Project Manager and others, Action Plans and other Key Performance Indicators, including accident prevention campaigns for all areas under their control, to continuously improve health and safety performance on site and within the Region.

6.Monitor and report monthly upon safety performance relative to the work completed or ongoing necessary to meet the goals set annually in the Company and Regional Action Plan for the continuous improvement of environmental, health and safety.

7.Report to the Regional Safety EH&S Manager, EH&S Director and the Project Manager all incidents of personal injury especially Lost Time Accidents, Major Injury, Dangerous Occurrences and Fatalities in line with the company accident reporting procedures and helping close-out any corrective actions as necessary.

8.Advise management and playing a lead role in the investigation of all injuries, accidents and dangerous occurrences in order to drive and assist, in conjunction with the Project Manager and other line management to implement appropriate corrective actions necessary to prevent a re-occurrence of any circumstances or factors likely to cause injury damage or breach of duty in line; thus fulfilling statutory requirements and industry best practice.

9.Collate consider and maintain a register of accident reports and statistical analysis of incidents of personal injury, ill-health, near miss incidents and property damage, thereby ensuring that any short fall in the health and safety standards seen in incident trends (whether caused by either EES or others) is brought to the attention of the senior divisional management team on a monthly basis.

10.Organise, act as secretary and participate in Site Safety Committee Meetings, chaired by the Project Manager and in doing so liaise with the members of the Business Unit Safety Committees, Site Safety Committees, all levels of Management, the Regional EH&S Manager, and Safety Representatives on matters relating to health and safety

11.Recommend to the Regional EH&S Manager and Project Manager, any changes which in their opinion may be necessary in the Safety Management Systems to achieve the aims and objectives of the Company Safety Policies and Procedures; improvements to existing systems of working, workplaces and work equipment [including tools and plant] and training requirements

12.Organise and where possible deliver, in line with the Regional and Company training plan, site EHS training and having done so maintain EHS Training Records

13.Monitoring the competence and appointment of site safety representatives on the project.

14.Advise, as necessary, Clients/Customers on the requirements of Health, Safety and Welfare Legislation which affect EES their property or business activities
