Job Description: We are looking for two Craft Maintenance Mechanical Fitter Practitioners to work at AWE in Aldermaston.

Job Purpose:

*To perform craft maintenance tasks in accordance with job instructions and by applying craft skills
*Ensure that objectives are achieved in an effective and safe manner
*To remain flexible, to accept day to day tasking from approved infrastructure WSO appointed for that task


Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

*Undertake routine maintenance tasks applying skills, competence and experience
*Ensure that the documentation package for the execution of the task is suitable and sufficient
*Assist in the development of maintenance instructions, procedures and SSoW packages
*Comply with all SSoW methods and hazard controls during the execution of maintenance activities
*Apply a level of 'on site' supervision to craft team members as required/delegated by lead WSO
*Apply mentoring skills to less experienced craft team members and apprentices
*Competent to plan own tasks on a daily basis
*Provide day to day technical assistance to craft team members as required
*Bring to the attention of line management and facility management any matter revealed during maintenance, indicating that the safe operation or the safe condition of the plant may be affected.
*Ensure any unsafe conditions generated by breakdown conditions are made safe prior to any diagnostic or other work taking place
*Complete job dockets after planned preventative or breakdown maintenance, ensuring a full and accurate report of the work done and all the necessary information to maintain the object's history
*Identify, source and order engineering spares as required.
*Ensure that the site where the work has taken place is left in a safe and 'as found' condition.

*To follow both written and verbal task instructions explicitly to ensure the safe completion of allocated tasks
*To take an active role in the implementation of both company and local procedures, systems of work, work instructions and current legislation to safeguard people, quality, security and the environment

Qualifications and Experience:

Qualifications/Mandatory Training:

*Engineering Apprenticeship
*COSHH Awareness, Manual Handling, Radiological Safety, Beryllium Hazards, General Safety, Waste Management, Fire Fighting
*City & Guilds (as appropriate), or NVQ Level 3

Knowledge:

*Maintenance Engineering of plant used in the processing of radioactive and toxic materials
*An awareness of company and local procedures, instructions & documentation
*Technical knowledge of modern Electrical Engineering techniques and applications

Skills:

*Verbal communication
*Fault finding skills
*Team working attributes
*Proven ability to follow written and verbal instructions
*Competent to execute routine maintenance tasks under self-supervision

Special Requirements:

*Ideally DV security clearance
*Medically fit for R/A & Toxic working
