Job Description: We are looking for an Electrical Work Supervisory Officer to work at AWE Aldermaston.
Job Purpose:
Undertake on behalf of Asset Service maintenance to discharge the responsibilities of WSO for maintenance tasks within area of responsibility.
Key Accountabilities:
*Execute maintenance tasks in a hands-on role as necessary for competence, operational or experience reasons
*Ensure that the documentation package for the execution of the task is accepted as suitable and sufficient and approved for use by the facility WCC, including safety and environmental assessments.
*Ensure adequate resources are available to carry out maintenance tasks to Asset Care work plans
*Ensure staff compliance with SSoW methods and hazard controls during the execution of maintenance activities within area of responsibility
*Ensure a full and accurate report of every Examination, Maintenance Inspection and Test (EMIT) is made by the person(s) performing the task
*Ensure any unsafe conditions generated by breakdown conditions are made safe prior to any diagnostic or other work taking place
*Ensure reasons for waiving or rescheduling maintenance are valid and advising facility management, facility engineering and line management accordingly.
*Ensure that the site where work has taken place is left in a safe and 'as found' condition
*Appraise, train and certify the competence of staff in accordance with facility and trade competency assessment requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
*Attend facility planning meetings to aid the generation and maintenance of Asset Care 'Work Plans'
*Allocate planned and prepared tasks to competent staff; apply a high level of supervision particularly with respect to EMIT tasks
*Organise available resources to achieve completion of tasks to company plans
*Assign person(s) to the task - ensure they are suitably competent and qualified and have been adequately briefed
*Assess and agree levels of supervision for staff undertaking maintenance activities in area of responsibility
*Facilitate the availability of tooling and equipment in a serviceable state with current certification where appropriate
*bring to the attention of line management and facility management any matter revealed during maintenance, indicating that the safe operation or the safe condition of the plant may be affected
*After Planned Preventative Maintenance or breakdown maintenance, ensure job dockets are completed with a full and accurate report of the work done and all necessary information to maintain the object's history
Qualifications and Experience:
Qualifications:
*Engineering Apprenticeship, City & Guilds (as appropriate), or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
*City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering)
*Engineering with practical experience of plant maintenance
*Environmental (Assessor Level)
Knowledge:
*Knowledge of AWE safety management arrangements and systems
*H&S at Work Act
*NII licence conditions
*Legislative ie IEE Regs, PSSR, LOLER etc as appropriate to the role
*Maintenance Engineering of plant used in the processing of radioactive and toxic materials
Experience:
*Experience of operational maintenance service delivery
*Experience in the use of AMS for operational purposes
*Working knowledge of AWE organisation, relationships and management processes
*Supervisory Man Management
Skills:
*Good interpersonal skills
*Ability to build and improve effective internal working relationships at all levels in order to secure best solutions
*Able to make systematic and rational judgements based on relevant information and to evaluate solutions
*Clear and concise oral and written communications (including report writing)
*Computer literate
Special Requirements:
*Ideally DV security cleared to 'Secret Atomic Principal'
*Medically fit for R/A and toxic areas
