Job Description: A Commissioning Manager (Mechanically biased) is required to work for one of the UK market leaders in the building service installation sector.
The Successful Commissioning Manager (Mechanically biased) will be based out of this well respected contractors Cheadle, Stockport office. You will have a proven track record as a Commissioning Manager having previously worked for a Building Services (Mechanical & Electrical) contractor.
Main Purpose of the Job:
To provide effective guidance, planning, management, monitoring recording, testing and implementation of procedures on all electrical aspects of this companies contracts, all in accordance with current IEE regulations, British Standards, codes of practice and the QA Manual.
Main Duties of the Job:
* Assessment of specifications from tender stage onwards to establish commissioning and O&M manual requirements.
* The monitoring and management of specialist sub-contractors commissioning performance.
* Assessment and audit of specialist sub-contractors quotations and proposals for commissioning, water treatment and production of manuals both at tender stage and when orders are being placed.
* Liaison with the in-house design team throughout the design stages of a contract to ensure 'commission ability' and checking of designs and working drawings to ensure that the completed installation can be both commissioned and maintained correctly.
* Preparation of commissioning programmes and method statements at all stages of prospective or definite contracts.
* Pre-commissioning visits throughout the progress of a contract to ensure compliance with commissioning requirements, and to progress pre-commissioning checks and phased commissioning/testing works.
* Management of commissioning activities.
* Investigation and correction of any post hand-over commissioning issues/difficulties.
* Liaison on commissioning QA procedures, along with the preparation of all the required documentation.
* Contribution to the production of Operating and Maintenance manuals as required.
* Liaison on, and some evaluation of, new product performance.
* Preparation and presentation of commissioning record documentation upon contract completion.
* To be responsible for all aspects of site safety for yourself and others including risk assessment, method statements and toolbox talks, as deemed appropriate.
* To take full control of one or more projects and be responsible to your employer.
* To be responsible, on behalf of your employer, to his Client for all site events within the scope of the contract.
* To agree documentation requirements and standards.
* To evaluate labour requirements against the programme and tender submissions.
* To be skilled in communication and man management.
* To recognise strengths and weaknesses in those to whom you delegate and work to form an effective team.
* To respond to changes in requirements objectively.
* To identify all design data and ensure adherence to specific standards.
* To recognise your own abilities and know when to call for assistance in dealing with matter which fall beyond your experience.
* To report regularly and as required to your employer on the specialism for which you are employed.
* Provide specialist support to the Northern Region where appropriate.
* Assist with the development of a company standard specification for commissioning.
* Assist with the development of the company strategy in its method and approach to the management of commissioning, production of manuals and project completion.
* Provide value engineering support and advice to estimators and project staff.
* Assist with the development of company standards for operating and maintenance manuals in hardcopy and electronic formats.
* Promote best practice within the company with regard to commissioning activities, manuals and handover procedures.
* Develop and undertake a system training and guidance to improve the project teams knowledge and understanding of commissioning.
* Monitor changes in standards and legislation within the industry and comment on the implications.
