Job Description: OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB
Report to and seek advice from the Area Technician on all matters appertaining to Operational matters, Regulatory and Statutory compliance.

Maintain a responsible attitude to work, be able to work unsupervised and apply technical and manual skills required to meet requirements of the Contract when carrying out:
*work appropriate to core specialist skill
*work with work equipment
* inspections, testing, planned maintenance, and modifications of systems, plant, equipment and buildings repair where appropriate
*maintenance, testing and adjustments to installations and systems in compliance with written instructions
*investigations, diagnoses and rectification of faults on mechanical / electrical distribution systems, plant and equipment when appointed to do so
*start ups, run, monitor the operation and shut down of service plant, equipment and systems when authorised
*installation and repair of piped services including but not restricted to steam, condensate, compressed air, vacuum, drainage, insulation, using a variety of materials, including steel, copper and plastic
*strip down, overhaul, set up and test pressure regulating and pressure relieving devices such as steam/air regulators and safety valves
*fabrication or repair miscellaneous supports, structures and items of equipment from various materials
*new equipment is installed and relocation of existing equipment throughout the site, including the loading and transportation of equipment
*electrically and mechanically isolate equipment so that it is safe to work on when appointed to do so.
DUTIES
Apply technical and manual skills as required, to ensure the safe and efficient running of plant during the course of shift working:
*provision of a sitewide facilities out of normal working hours service
*monitor engineering services through the Site Facilities Management System to ensure for continuity of supply
*initiate emergency procedures in the event of major utility incident.

Quality Arrangements
Accountable for ensuring that Regulatory activities are carried out, in compliance with GSK Quality System and the Company IMS as it applies to the Contract by competent employees as defined in the company Cross Site SOPs, Processes, local SOPs together with any adopted procedures from Site based user Groups.

Maintenance of Plant and Facilities to ensure appropriate and correct operation, to efficiently and reliably operate within specification while ensuring that records are maintained in line with Operational, Regulatory and Statutory practice.

Ensure that all work:
*is carried out as planned and breakdown maintenance, fault finding, commissioning and installation of engineering equipment and systems is carried out in accordance with procedure
*processed documentation through the Computerised Management System (CMMS) ensuring that adequate services are maintained
*is inputted and information retrieved from the CMMS is carried out on time and accurately reflects the work
*appertaining to the operation of engineering equipment and services is carried out to meet efficiency and performance criteria and recommend continual improvements where appropriate.

Responsible for supervising subcontractors under your direct control.
Report to the Area Technician situations that deviate from the expected and found during maintenance activities on GxP qualified equipment, systems and utilities, which could affect product quality so that Engineering Quality Alerts can be raised.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
Be able to achieve high levels of operational performance. Extensive experience in a related industry. Qualified to C&G and / or HND level in Electrical and Mechanical disciplines.
