Job Description: Purpose and scope
The purpose of this role is to work within our design team to produce modular building designs and specifications to meet client requirements. The post holder will be a project design manager who will liaise and coordinate between client and internal departments, providing technical support to both.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
* Interpret architects drawings and ideas into comprehensive working construction drawings
* To design and manage a team of draughtsman to produce a project from initial concept stage through to construction.
* Lead the team to produce Timely and planned production detailed drawings and specification
* To work with cost parameters of the estimate & where possible use innovative design to reduce cost.
* To ensure delivery of design functions are in line with planned manufacture and construction schedules.
* To liaise with site managers, production managers and sub-contractors interpreting and responding to manufacturing queries, incorporating relevant feedback into the design process
* To contribute, or otherwise assist, as required by the Design Manager
* To work in accordance with IBS EN SO 9001 procedures
Qualities and Skills required
* Able to demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities
* Essential to have in depth knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft packages
* HNC or higher in Construction/Engineering/Manufacturing (desirable)
* Knowledge of building regulations, HTMS and building bulletins
* Expert knowledge of construction methods, particularly in Design
* Good commercial and cost awareness.
* Ability to manage and prioritise tasks and time efficiently
* Resilient to cope with conflicting demands and be able to prioritise duties and
work under pressure
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks
* Good interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as part of an
effective team.
* Excellent organisational skills
* Flexible attitude
* Able to build good relationships at all levels, internally and externally
