Job Description: To carry out day to day Voice and Data Cabling Infrastructure support works within a Data Centre environment.
To Rack and Stack Servers and Network Hardware equipment
To supervise third party service providers and ensure compliance with change control, and that specification and quality standards are met.
Management and tracking of assets
Conform to The Company and the Client's Health and Safety Policies
Conform to the various Manufacturers, (The Company) and the Client's Quality Standards
Conform to Support Services approved processes
Covering a 24/7, 365 day shift pattern working 12 hours shift (both Days and Nights) on a 4 on 4 off basis.
Requirements
A thorough understanding and knowledge of fibre and copper voice and data cabling including testing parameters, testing equipment and testing techniques.
A comprehensive knowledge of how voice and data networks are connected.
A comprehensive knowledge of Voice and Data Patching.
Knowledge of Server Patching within a Data Centre
A good knowledge of the main and ancillary active devices generally associated with LAN / WAN.
Thorough knowledge of Change Control in a Data Centre environment.
Computer literate and familiar with MS Windows and the MS Office Suite of Applications (in particular Word and Excel)
Familiar with Internal Call Raising Software (e.g. Assyst, Remedy)
Familiar with Cable Management Systems (CMS) Software
Experience of using Fluke Handheld Network Testes and DTX Testers
Experience of using a light Source to resolve Fibre Patching Issues
Familiar with Asset Management Software ("Asset Point" as a preference)
Intelligent Infrastructure Management (IIM) knowledge and skills would be a bonus but not essential.
